Red Bird Mission

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Three adults, four teenage girls, Pastor Katie, her two sons from New Hope, and I went on the Redbird trip. Redbird is located in Queendale, Kentucky, an 8-hour drive from Maryland.  We worked Monday through Thursday with morning devotions starting at 7:15 and breakfast at 7:30. We left for the job site by 8 AM, had lunch around noon, and returned to Redbird at 4 PM. From 4:00 to 4:30, we loaded the work van with supplies for the next day. Dinner was at 5 PM, followed by a 6:30 evening activity.

Our project was to replace rotting steps, remove old carpet from the living room, and replace it with vinyl flooring. The project took three days. Thursday, we were given three small projects, which included cleaning gutters on a house in Redbird, repairing an electrical system on a mobile home, and repairing leaking pipes to a water heater on a second mobile home.  ----  Maurice Hoffmaster
